Mount Merrion Bosses Batch Cooking
We visited Mount Merrion Community for a fun and interactive workshop organised through the Clear Pharmacy. The workshop was designed to get everyone talking about food waste and to encourage residents to come up with nifty food-waste solutions for themselves.
We began by looking at the startling statistics around food waste, including talking about some of the reasons why food waste happens. For example, cooking too much food, not planning our supermarket shops and chucking leftovers in the bin.
The group were thrilled to learn about freezing and storage, including tips on batch cooking that they said they would definitely use at home.
Nicola Smith said, “The session was very informative and interactive; everyone was able to learn something from today. It gave us the information to enable us to change one thing about how we use, cook and store our food to help reduce waste and save money”
